CHILDREN WANT TO GIVE THEIR PARENTS
CHRISTMAS GIFTS AT THE ORANGE COUNTY RESCUE MISSION
The Orange County Rescue Mission is in need of items that can be given to the adult residents living at the Village of Hope by their children at this year’s Christmas party.
Orange County, Calif., December 13, 2010 – The Orange County Rescue Mission is in need of gift item donations for children to give to their parents at the Christmas event on Saturday, December 18th 2010. This event is an opportunity for Orange County Rescue Mission families to experience the Christmas holiday together, sometimes for the first time.
“Through the generosity of the Tustin Auto Center and the H1 Psycho Squad, who came together to help organize our Christmas party, this year we are setting up a ‘shopping area’ where the residents can choose gifts and wrap them for their loved ones,” explained Jim Palmer, President of the Orange County Rescue Mission. “This is an important part of our celebration, especially for the children residents who have often never had a traditional Christmas, and have never had the opportunity to give their parents a gift. Giving is one of the most important parts of the holiday season, and a wonderful experience for the children at the Village of Hope. These children have often had a rough start at life and are now learning love and generosity as their parents work to rebuild their lives and families through our program.”
The Christmas event is being organized by Tustin Buick GMC, Tustin Nissan, The Tustin Auto Center and the H1 Psycho Squad, a Hummer enthusiast group. The event will begin with a caravan of Hummers driving to the Village of Hope and dropping off toys and gifts that they have collected from the community. The event will also include crafts, games and visits with Santa for the children, as well as the shopping and gift wrapping area where the donated toys and gifts can be chosen and wrapped for loved ones. In addition an In-N-Out Hamburger truck will be visiting the Village of Hope and providing 300 hamburgers to the residents as a special treat.
“The Orange County Rescue Mission is a very important organization to the Tustin Auto Center and the H1 Psycho squad,” Mark Parkinson, President of the Tustin Auto Center. “Being able to organize this Christmas party, as well as working with the community to gather gift donations has been very rewarding for all of us involved. As Tustin based businesses we believe in giving back to the Tustin community and those less fortunate, especially this time of year.”
